Courses

There are several astronomy courses offered at the University of Manitoba that have an observational component:

ASTR 1810, and ASTR 1830 include an observation session at Glenlea Astronomical Observatory and sessions in the Lockhart Planetarium.

ASTR 2070 and ASTRO 3070: Observational Astronomy is a primarily observational course, which makes use of the telescopes at the Glenlea Astronomical Observatory (GAO) and the Ewen Campus Observatory (ECO).

The upper year astronomy courses do not include an observational component. They are:

PHYS 3180 – Stars
PHYS 4230 – The Phenomenology of Galaxies
PHYS 4240 – Astronomy Project

The astronomy project course has the option of including an observational component.
